Beth El auction includes lessons by former major league pitcher

The Light Up the Harbor Spring Gala and auction to benefit the Beth El Center will take place on Saturday, June 7, from 6 to 11 p.m.

Among the many items and packages that will be available during the live auction are personal pitching lessons from former major league baseball pitcher Tommy John.

Executive Director Toni Dolan recently received a call from John regarding his auction donation.

“Tommy John called me personally to let me know of his contribution to our auction,” Dolan said. “This is the second year in a row that Tommy has donated to the auction, which has been a highlight for the gala and a big help at raising funds for the shelter. Beth-El greatly appreciates his support.”

Other auction items range from a smooth jazz brunch featuring Jay Rowe and Italian cooking lessons to Yankees tickets and a sunset sail on the Long Island Sound. Milford local and Beth-El Board vice president Ed Davies will serve as auctioneer.

Tickets for the gala are $100. For tickets visit bethelmilford.org or call 203-876-0747.

The Beth-El Center serves individuals and families by providing temporary shelter and feeds up to 60 persons daily in the soup kitchen.

Clients include veterans, elderly and people working through unemployment, illness, catastrophic events, addictions and emotional problems. The Beth-El Center is located at 90 New Haven Avenue in Milford.
