Make-A-Wish Connecticut will once again host its annual fund-raising event, Walk for Wishes on Saturday, May 10 at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport. Join emcees and honorary chairs Anna Zap of Star 99.9, WFSB Reporter Jason Frazer and WFSB Traffic Reporter Nicole Nalepa on May 10, along with family and friends from all over Connecticut and past Wish Kids and families to help make wishes come true for Connecticut children battling life-threatening medical conditions.
Unique to this year’s Walk for Wishes will be a special send-off celebration for a young girl whose wish will be granted live at the event, while more than 1,000 people surprise her with a party in her honor at the Walk, followed by a limo ride with her family to the airport for the exciting beginning of her wish-come-true experience.
“Experiencing first-hand a wish send-off party for one of our wish kids is a moment we’re all looking forward to in a very exciting way,” commented Michael Dominick, Community and Media Relations Manager for Make-A-Wish Connecticut. “To be a part of such an overwhelming celebration in this young girl’s honor will make her wish experience extra special, not only for her and her family, but for all those who come out to the Walk for Wishes on May 10. We’ll all be able to share the power of a wish together.”
The non-competitive one-mile-walk unites wish kids, wish families, and the entire community, who all come together to make wishes come true for kids battling life-threatening medical conditions and enrich their human experience with hope, strength and joy.
As a participant, you can enjoy food and fun for the entire family, entertainment and an evening of making wishes come true. Your online registration includes entrance to the zoo, parking and access to the private, exclusive surprise Wish Celebration.
For those who raise a minimum of $25, you will receive a special wish kit that includes items for the wish celebration, and for those who raise a minimum of $100, you will receive an exclusive event T-shirt as well.
For those who would like to support the event but cannot be present on May 10, supporters are encouraged to become a “virtual walker” on the event website and make pledges to make wishes come true for kids throughout the state.
Registration begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the walk commencement at 5:30, and the special surprise Wish Celebration to follow.
