Lauralton loses to St. Joseph, 3-2, in opener

The Lauralton Hall softball team lost its season opener to St. Joseph, 3-2, in Trumbull on Wednesday.
Coach Amanda Acampora’s Crusaders were led by Maureen Connolly, who had two of its four hits and scored a run. Lauralton scored twice in the top of the first inning.
Katie Gardella knocked in the go-ahead run with a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning for St. Joseph.
Lauren Pitney had two hits and scored a run and Tori Ceballos had two hits and an RBI for the Cadets, who scored runs in the first, third and sixth innings.
Lauralton will host Seymour High today at 4:15.
