Ernest R. (Butchie) Jalbert, age 65, of Milford, formerly of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Kathleen Chanda Jalbert, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012 in his home.
Ernest, or Butchie, as he was known to his friends, was born in Bridgeport to the late Ernest and Pauline (Morris) Jalbert, and has been a life long area resident.
He graduated from Bullard Havens Technical High School in 1964, and retired after 30 years from Bridgeport Hospital, as Director of Engineering. He was a member of the Plumber and Pipe fitters Union Local #777.
Ernest enjoyed rebuilding classic cars and watching car racing in his spare time; he also enjoyed a love of music, and dinners out.
He also took care of his mother and father-in-law John and Emily Chanda, until their passing, in the home that he built and loved on Summersweet Place in Stratford.
Ernest will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Survivors include his beloved sisters Eldean Duffy and her husband Phillip, and Jacqueline Jalbert Leja, and her husband Raymond T., several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Riley, that he loved so much.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was pre-deceased by his beloved son Keith. F
uneral services will take place on Thursday, June 28th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
