Lauralton defeats Mercy, earns spot in final

Lauralton Hall defeated Mercy High of Middletown, 52-43, to advance to the Class LL girls basketball state finals on Friday night.
Coach Amanda Forcucci’s second-seeded Crusaders (25-1) will play No. 4 South Windsor (22-2) on Saturday or Sunday at a time to be determined at the Mohegun Sun Arena in Uncasville.
Carly Fabbri scored 21 points, Emma McCarthy 14 and Maggie Salandra nine against third-seeded Mercy (25-2).
Lauralton took a 12-11 lead into the second quarter. The margin was 22-20 at the half and 38-30 after three periods.
