The Storm Prediction Center says there is a slight risk the entire region may see severe thundestorms later today.
A weak cold front will be moving slowly across the Region on Friday and Friday night bringing an end to the heat wave. Thunderstorms are expected to develop across the region from mid-late afternoon and into the early evening Friday and feed on the warm humid air mass across the region.
The main threat from these storms will be torrential rainfall and possibly localized urban or small-stream flash flooding. However, hail and severe gusts of wind are also possible. While a thunderstorm could develop anytime on Friday, the most likely time for development will be after noon.
