Halloween postponed in Milford

Halloween trick-or-treating in Milford has been postponed a week until Wednesday, Nov. 7, due to Super Storm Sandy.

Mayor Ben Blake said he isn’t sure if there is a state statute allowing a city official to postpone Halloween, but in the name of safety he decided it best to do so, pointing out that some surrounding communities have done the same.

“The main reason he chose to do this is because we’re still in stages of recovery from Sandy, and right now there are still power lines down,” said John O’Connell, who was answering phones at City Hall Tuesday. “He wants everyone to be safe.”
