Two men were arrested Tuesday after robbing the Wells Fargo Bank on Cherry Street.
At 10:48 am the Milford Police Department received a complaint of an armed robbery at the Wells Fargo bank, 215 Cherry Street.
Information received from the bank representatives was that two men entered the bank, one brandished a handgun and the other vaulted the teller line, attempting to open the cash drawers in an attempt to take money. Finding all the drawers locked, the males fled the bank and left in a grey colored Infinity SUV type vehicle.
Officers were dispatched to the scene and others were checking the area for the suspect vehicle. A Milford detective in an unmarked vehicle spotted the suspect vehicle southbound on I-95 entering Stratford and followed the vehicle. The vehicle’s operator drove onto side streets in Stratford and upon turning onto Columbus Avenue, observed a marked Stratford Police Vehicle.
The passenger of the vehicle fled and the driver tried to elude police. However he was taken into custody in the 600 block of Columbus Avenue.
With the assistance of Stratford Police and their K-9, the second subject was located inside a home in the 300 block of Columbus Avenue.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident and police are continuing the investigation.
The operator of the vehicle is identified as;
Deveral Webley, 32, with a last known addres of 126 Kossuth Street, Bridgeport
The second subject is identified as;
Nathaniel Campbell, 27, with a last known address of 166 Lennox Ave., Bridgeport
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending on both individuals.
