Police arrest two teens for spreading graffiti on west side of town

The Milford Police Department has arrested two teenagers in connection with vandalism on the west side of the city.

A majority of the acts of vandalism consisted of an upside down cross spray-painted or drawn in marker. Also, some other types of graffiti consisting of the wording “Woodland C” were discovered during the investigations. The areas targeted were playgrounds at schools, Silver Sands State Park and Mondo Trails on West Avenue.

During the investigation, police used investigative resources including the assistance from local newspapers and television stations, which helped identify two suspects: Bilal Lopez, 18, 27 Kittery Street, and Alex Garcia, 18, of 17 Great Meadow Drive.

Bilal Lopez and Alex Garcia were arrested Dec. 7 and charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd 53a- 117 (11 counts), Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Mischief 3rd 53a-48/53a-117, Breach of Peace 2nd 53a-181 and Conspiracy to Commit Breach of Peace 2nd 53a-48/53a-181.

Both teenagers were released on a $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court Jan. 7.
