Worker injured at East Shore Middle School construction site Thursday

At approximately 12:45 Thursday there was an accident at the construction site at East Shore Middle School in Milford involving one of the construction workers.

In a prepared statement, school officials said they do not know the details of the accident but noted that emergency vehicles were on the scene.  One school employee said he believes a construction worker fell from a piece of equipment.

No students were injured.  However, some students may have witnessed the accident.  Students in classrooms near where the accident occurred were relocated to another section of the building.  A social worker and other staff were made available to meet with any student in need.

Due to the fact that the accident took place at a construction site, the Occupational Safety and Hazards Administration (OSHA) was notified, and will be conducting a thorough investigation.

“We will cooperate fully with the investigation,” school officials said.

In support of the investigation, all afternoon activities were cancelled Thursday.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the construction worker and his family,” school officials said.
